This page provides instructors teaching hybrid courses with the additional information needed to meet the University Core Curriculum (UCC) requirements for the upcoming term. Read below to learn how to use Canvas to fulfill these requirements.
Note: Courses that have been certified through the Provost’s Hybrid Pilot Program will continue to be supported by FIU Online.
UCC course instructors are being asked to track the attendance of students during the first two weeks of the semester. If you are teaching a hybrid or online course, students will need to log in to the learning management system (i.e. Canvas) and access each UCC course shell during the first two weeks of the semester. The students' activity in the course learning management system will be used as a proxy for participation. No further action is required from the instructor for reporting on attendance in a hybrid or online course.
Below are instructions on how to leverage Canvas to provide students with a mid-semester grade.
